QPP QCDR Guide for All Medicare Providers

Starting in 2013, Physicians’ Quality Reporting System (PQRS) is a mandatory program for reporting to CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid), and penalties will now be imposed on non-reporting Medicare professional providers.

In 2014, CMS superceded PQRS with a new QPP reporting program: The Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR).  As an evolution of traditional QPP reporting methods (such as Claims or Qualified Registries), QCDR reporting offers the following advantages to Medicare providers:

1. QCDRs have inherent processes that integrate more easily with the workflow of the Medicare Providers, including provider organizations that have multiple data sources.

2.  QCDR reporting does not have many of the restrictions inherent in the new MACRA reporting methods; Using the QCDR enables providers to greatly improve the success rate of their QPP report process. (as opposed to >50% failure rate for legacy PQRSClaims reportingSee details)

3. The QPP submission generated by a QCDR on behalf of a Medicare Providers contains only the population statistics of the patient panel chosen by the Medicare provider.

4. As a partner with your professional organization (AMA, College of Physicians ...), a QCDR can create measures relevant to a provider’s specialty.
For example, NQF measure 0105 - Antidepressant Medication Management (AMM) can be proposed as a QCDR specific measure to help fulfill QPP reporting requirements of a mental health professional.

CUHSM.org is a QCDR registered with CMS that provides QPP support to Medicare Providers.   We streamline the QPP reporting process by providing alternative methods that integrate with the CMS billing workflow of providers, especially for those who do not use an EHR:
